College degree to run a tractor?

Head out to the John Deere page and start looking at the latest headlines.   Very few mention the new tractors, new implements, or ground-breaking developments (pun intended).  Instead you find mentions of data to you cell phone, infinitely-variable transmission technology combined to your push button cruise control that maximizes fuel and acreage efficiency.  Want classes on how to operate the software on your computer and download data to and from your machines?  Fun downloads from the site include wallpapers of green star systems.  Boy have things changed.  Tomorrow I talk red.

Belterra, Southern Indiana, and small tractors

Sorry for the delay.  I was at a conference at the Belterra Hotel and Casino this past week.  Casino was not bad, the carpeting is getting long in the tooth and a little sticky.  But otherwise pretty good - EXCEPT $10/DAY FOR INTERNET ACCESS!!!!!  Next time I will bring a wireless access point and give free internet to the entire floor.  (Thanks to Ed for that idea!) 
As for Vevay and Patriot - great towns.  Vevay had a street festival for 1 night only for us.  I guess the first Friday of every month they have a street fest.  Really a good time.  A few local artists had some really good displays of photography and oil painting. 

How does this relate to tractors?  I was amazed at the number of small tractors setting for sale.  It makes sense when you think about it - with all the hills it would be hard to run big equipment.  I'll post a few pics when I get them downloaded.

LOW hours John Deere 4430 for sale. Not Cheap.

1976 2,662 hrs.  Grandpa bought it in 1977, Dad ran it.  My brothers and I grew up in it. We have only put 15 hours on it since September 2007. 

I remember riding to the right of the steering wheel standing by the little door for hours.  At night the glow of the orange light reflecting off the white decals making it easy to read the instruments and lever positions while giving a comforting warm hue to the darkness (Pontiac owners will understand).  We would take turns sleeping behind the seat, standing up, or best of all sitting on top of the arm rest next to Dad.  We would wax it at least twice a year.  Dad (our local Ag teacher) had the FFA kids help paint the hood, fenders, front and side panels once.  Years later one of those kids told me they used a high quality automotive paint that he was able to procure for Dad.  Pretty sure that hot looking paint job was hot paint.
